Bacterial  genetics is a core expertise with experience across Streptomyces, Bacillus, Staphylococci, E. coli & others. From strain improvement, product expression or target validation, CBV can provide expert advice to aid delivery of project objectives.

Example:

Cryptic genomic redundancy identified by combinatorial gene knockout of potential complementary active sites

Problem:

To characterise genome redundancy & to identify potential synthetic lethal gene combinations

Solution:

Use bio-informatics to identify potential active sites present in two or more proteins in a genome eg related families & then to systematically knockout family members individually & in combination to reveal previously cryptic complementary protein functions.
